  I contacted Handyman Connection in the morning. Chris, the electrician, showed up at noon the same day and had a look at the job and prepared a quote. He said it was a fairly straightforward job and could start immediately. He was fast and efficient and fairly tidy in cleaning up. The price was fairly reasonable. He explained what he was doing as he progressed through the job. There were no surprises. I am extremely satisfied. The entire process, from initial phone call to completion of job was 6 hours. Who else can top that service?

  We have hired James Paquin to do a few jobs for us. Actually we tend to request him because of the work that he does and the price that he does it for. We can always be sure that it will be done right and will look great! He is the reason that we have continued to use Handyman.

  The first guy we got to fix our lights was great. Friendly and professional. We mentioned we needed a small wall extension and a door put in for our break room at our store. He said it would probably cost 300 bucks. Which is ballpark what we estimated too.
  
  So we thought "Great" and called again to book someone for a real quote. They quoted $3100 and claimed we just misheard the first guy!
  
  We knew the materials did not cost anywhere near that, because we had priced out what it would cost to just buy the materials from the store and do it ourselves (about $150 give or take, the wall was only 4ft long by 10ft high) but wanted to go through a contractor for speed and convenience.
  
  My husband phones them back after the ridiculous quote and the woman he spoke with (who was admittedly very nice) said the order on paper was for a whole lot more work that we hadn't actually asked for or would EVER have done, like shelf installation and a full paint job. (Still not seeing where the thousands of dollars went, but this was clear fraud, because the guy who would be doing the work never offered to do these additional things for us).
  
  We were told we'd get a call back about the "misunderstanding" but never did.
  
  So either the company scams people, or they hired a contractor that scams people.
  
  I have no idea how many others were unwittingly overcharged for work they never got done but were too naive about what construction costs to notice. Either way, we will be doing the work ourselves and never using this business again.
  
  I am torn because their receptionist was nice and the original electrician was good. But this was so unnaceptable, so shifty, so inexcusable that it had made me distrust them forever.
  
  If it was this one contractor who lied and the company didn't know (though I'm sure would have happily taken our money if we hadn't called them out) then I urge them to immediately fire and blacklist that man from future work.
  
  If it WAS the company, and this IS a common practice then shame on them. How dare they take advantage of people.
  
  And I urge everyone else to look elsewhere.

  This company advertises that they employ professionals who can help you complete your home renovation project. That is not who they sent to our home. We signed a contract stating a certain amount of work would be done for a set amount of money. He did not even finish 1/3of the job and what he did do was a terrible job that we now have to redo and purchase more matrrial to replace what their guy wasted. They refused to accept any responsobility gor theor worker and the shoddy job he did. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!

  The person on the phone was lovely to deal with, and the guys that came to the house were too. All good communicators and good at their jobs. And fast!!! Great work guys.

  I had work done by the former owners of this company, and it was done badly. By the time I realized that, the company had changed hands. Even though it wasn't his responsibility, new owner Alex willingly stepped up to make it right, and he and his tradesman, Ken, did an excellent job. Ken showed up on time, did the job well, and cleaned up after himself. Alex communicated regularly and clearly with me, and was a pleasure to deal with. I'll happily call them next time I need something done.
  
  If you've had a bad experience with Handyman Connection in Victoria, you should know that they are under new ownership, and if my experience is anything to go by, the improvement is HUGE!
